Hello Friends,
My name is Joshua Henderson, I am the pastor here at Oakley Baptist Church. I was born again into the family of God on December 14th, 2005 at Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Toney Alabama. God blessed me with my wonderful bride of twenty years, Andrea, and our daughters, Emma, Lily, and Sara. I answered God’s call on my life to preach His Word at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Van Town Tennessee, under my pastor, Milton Martin in November of 2020. I was called to pastor Oakley on January 31st, 2021. Our time at Oakley has been amazing and our brothers and sisters are wonderful and supportive.
When we arrived at Oakley, my mission was to minister to our congregation, so that we grow in Spirit and Truth daily. We are to be a mission-minded church which was the commandment from our Lord Jesus Christ, to go into the world and preach the Gospel, starting in our community and further as the Lord sees fit and provides the way. As a church, we desire to win as many souls to Christ as possible with what time we have left on this earth.

What We Believe
Oakley Baptist Church’s statement of faith is rooted in God’s Word, a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.
• Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
• The King James Bible is the preserved Word of God and our final authority. 2 Timothy 3:16 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Psalms 119: 89 - For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.
• The virgin birth of Jesus Christ. Isaiah 7:14 - Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Matthew 1:23 - Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Luke 1:35 - And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
• The deity of Jesus Christ. John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 10:30 - I and my Father are one. 1 John 5:7 - For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
• The pre-millennial return of Christ to this earth. 1 Thessalonians 1:10 - And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 - But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. John 14: 1-4 - Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
• The eternal security of every true born-again believer. John 17:12 - While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. John 18:9 - That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none. Ephesians 4:30 - And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 1:13 - In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.
• The gospel as the death, burial & resurrection of Jesus Christ. Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 - For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
• Mission-minded according to Scripture. Mark 16:15 - And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Matthew 28:19-20 - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
